Free Mesh body : The Mesh Project

There are a few free mesh bodies in Second Life for now, maybe we will find more one day.

My investigations led me to 2 mesh bodies so far: The Mesh Project free version and .^.:MA:.^. Fitted mesh body by Svetlana Eleonara (Free Versions for both, limited features).

Free mesh heads : Eve free version (compatible with Omega appliers), Yabusaka by Meli Imako.

1. The Mesh Project (TMP)

TMP provides a quite complicated HUD to use There is one Hud for shopping, and one Hud for styling your items. Let me guide you through!

How to get TMP free mesh body?

First when you TP in, you receive a Shopping hud. Wear it and read the instructions on your hud and on the walls (step 1, step 2, etc).

Oh…wait.

My TMP mesh body is white… how to apply a skin?

You took a free body, a starter basic or deluxe body, it is always white when you wear it the first time. You need to apply a skin to it. Let’s begin to apply some texture and color to your free dress they gifted you in the mesh body package. Just to get used to the process.

Wear the body, feet, hands, alpha layer and shoe shape. And the free mesh dress of course “The Shops! Spring/Summer Gift Dress”! Just like in the picture of my inventory. You see your avatar is all white, with text hovering in circle around your body.

Click on the dress icon at the bottom / 4. Click on “Styles” / 5. Click on this little “Feature” icon

Once you selected a color, you see its options available (meaning, different skins make with options) like skin with or without underwear, with or without nipples. Click on the skin you would like to apply and you are no longer white!

I wear a different skin on my system head, you may have the same problem : a neck line. I selected a skin tone close to my head tone, but there is still an ugly difference between those two skins. There is a way to fix that quickly and nicely!

Back in your StyleMode hud, in the skins section. 1. Click on “Modify” / 2. Click on “Retrofit Neck” / 3. Wear or Add the Retro Neck Fader in your body skin tone number (this folder may still be boxed it you did not unboxit, it is in your body package folder). It is a system tattoo layer, with a gradient, solid from the base of the body neck to transparent at the top so it fixes the neck line, fading the body skin to the other skin you wear on your head. Smart isn’t it?

You are ready! You can play with your shape and create a shape fitting your desires!

The Mesh Project Free mesh body restrictions

With this body, you cannot apply other designers’ skins. Appliers (for skins, make-up, clothes, tattoos) from other brands will only work with the Starter (1000L$), Basic and Deluxe TMP body version which are not free. You will also not be able to hide parts of your body to perfectly fit your mesh clothes. BUT, you have many skins available in the free version, and should be able to find a tone that corresponds to your heads’ skins. Those skins include a version with and without underwear. In case you would like to use a fantasy skin, like a dark grey-blueish dark elf drow skin, then, you cannot use the free body edition and should get another version with skin applier compatible with TMP or Omega system.

Example free system skin I use right now :

[ESODE] Zoe Skin Group Gift system skin + TMP default skin tone 09 with neck fixer tone 09 to make a gradient on my neck, it merges the skins colors together.

Example free skin appliers for TMP Starter, Basic and Deluxe editions :

[ESODE] Zoe Skin Group Gift (System/Maitreya/Slink/TMP appliers), no head applier included in this gift. You need to buy another head applier in the same skin tone if you want from Esode. Esode heads appliers usually come in Omega versions.
